00:00:08:15 Each month, each weekend, has a topic.
00:00:12:20 We have already talked about the 18 topics.
00:00:16:10 Let's take as example the first one: Know yourself.
00:00:20:22 Each topic will be addressed from five
different perspectives and those five
00:00:28:05 different perspectives will always be the same ones.
00:00:31:01 And they are the following ones:
00:00:33:07 The first one: Literary perspective.
The second one: Biblical perspective.
00:00:39:23 The third one: the Fine arts.
The fourth: Theology
00:00:46:02 And the fifth will be the Musical perspective.
00:00:50:20 And what are we going to do with each one of those perspectives and the topic?
00:00:57:17 Because these are such huge topics.
Know yourself, Love, Freedom, Silence,
00:01:03:09 Word...
00:01:04:17 How can a class of two hours and a half
address the topic off "Know yourself"...
00:01:10:10 From a literary perspective?
What are we supposed to do?
00:01:13:19 To give a summary of World literature
about knowing yourself? That's absurd.
00:01:18:17 It's impossible.
00:01:20:02 And it's not our intention to treat the
topics in a theoretical, abstract way.
00:01:27:12 But our intention, the intention of the
school is to work with the methodology
00:01:32:22 that we have been calling
the methodology of the Pearl.
00:01:37:10 And that's after the Gospel passage,
where there is this farmer...
00:01:43:12 who is labouring on a field
and finds a treasure.
00:02:07:22 The idea is that each of the
professors that will come
00:02:10:23 we'll be asking that Professor
"Bring us a pearl".
00:02:16:02 Bring us, on the topic that we want
to address on that particular month, ...
00:02:21:15 for example, "Know yourself",
bring us... don't tell us
00:02:25:22 what "Know yourself" is in a theoretical
way, don't explain to us...
00:02:30:03 a scheme of the topic...
00:02:33:18 but bring us a concrete example
but also not any example,
00:02:38:15 one that for you personally,
subjectively is of particular relevance.
00:02:43:18 Because a very important aspect of
this school is the monastic wisdom
00:02:49:23 That we cannot separate
knowledge and experience
00:02:54:19 that there is something that belongs
to the capacity of transmitting
00:03:03:10 passing on important things in life
and they cannot be passed on
00:03:08:05 without going through the experience
of the one who is talking.
00:03:12:15 You cannot pass on important...
00:03:14:21 You can pass on information,
that is obvious,
00:03:17:00 but you cannot pass on important
aspects of life and knowledge
00:03:24:23 without relating them to your own experience.
00:03:29:01 And that's what the professors
that will be in the school
00:03:32:14 20 professors that I will be introducing
to you in another short video,
00:03:38:00 all of them have agreed to do precisely
that: to bring their expertise, yes,
00:03:42:07 more than half of them are PhD's
on the different topics so...
00:03:46:10 ... definitely the school wants to
make sure that we have the highest
00:03:49:20 academic level.
But that's not enough.
00:03:53:14 Besides that, we want also to introduce
this subjectivity into our classes
00:03:59:12 and to bring and to give the professor
the encouragement to also share
00:04:04:18 some of these aspects with the students
