00:00:02:15 Knowledge Art inwardness. Master's degree 2020-22
00:00:06:01 Timetable
00:00:10:03 Having five perspectives
and having this monthly schedule
00:00:14:08 means that we are working in what we call
the structure of a block.
00:00:18:15 And a block follows a structure
that is the same one every month.
00:00:24:05 It starts on Friday. The Friday aspect is
an optional aspect because maybe, some people
00:00:31:12 are not able to either join us live
here at the monastery on Friday
00:00:36:10 or even join the program online on Friday.
00:00:41:00 So, if on Friday you cannot be there, the
class actually starts on Saturday morning.
00:00:48:09 But on Friday, for those who want to join
the program here at the monastery...
00:00:53:09 ... we start with 45 minutes of silence.
We go together into our church and...
00:01:02:03 spend that silence of 45 minutes to gather
ourselves and prepare for the weekend.
00:01:09:19 After that, we go to our classroom and
in the classroom we'll have our seminar for
00:01:17:08 the writing of the thesis, the Master's
thesis. There, there will be at least two
00:01:22:08 professors joining the students that will be
Master students and will work for
00:01:27:01 their degree to just follow their progress in
their writing of the thesis.
00:01:32:06 On Saturday, we start the first perspective,
which is the Literary perspective, at 9:14
00:01:39:04 in the morning, and each class will also
follow the same structure. The classes will
00:01:45:20 always start with 15 minutes where it won't be
the professor but the students the ones that
00:01:51:17 will speak. One student will give a summary
of the preceding class, the second
00:01:57:05 student will give an anticipation of the
upcoming class. An anticipation that will also
00:02:03:05 be subjective, that equally valued as the
subjectivity of the professor will be
00:02:09:08 the subjectivity of the student. What
is it that you, personally and particularly,
00:02:13:05 expect of that particular class?
00:02:14:21 And what are your questions,
what are your desires, maybe?
00:02:20:05 Then, the professors will start the
lecture, and of course...
00:02:25:03 it's possible that the professor
does not touch upon any of the aspects
00:02:29:02 that the student was expecting.
00:02:31:12 But this is also O.K. because we
are trying to go as deep as possible
00:02:37:00 into this complexity and this open-endedness
of of the expressions of the spirit.
00:02:47:02 And so, it is good that we don't try
to bring everything into just to step on the line.
00:02:52:09 The lecture of the professor goes for an hour,
then we have a break and after the break...
00:02:58:06 each class will have 45 minutes of student
work in little groups, small groups, and
00:03:05:06 the dynamics will be diverse and different,
according to each class, each professor,
00:03:10:05 each discipline or perspective.
00:03:12:05 It's not the same to do it for music
than to do it for fine arts or theology.
00:03:17:14 After that, at the end of every class,
we'll finish with half an hour of plenum
00:03:23:19 of the whole class, with discussion.
00:03:28:01 Because of the intensive character of the weekend we
00:03:30:05 (we'll be together some of us from Friday until Sunday evening),
00:03:37:01 we have introduced not only these two moments
of long 45 minutes silence, but also
00:03:43:08 two moments of physical exercise. Those will
be some Chi-Kung exercise that
00:03:49:22 the class will be invited to do together and
of course will be optional to join or not.
00:03:55:21 They will take place after the first class on
Saturday morning. So, literature,
00:04:00:22 Chi-Kung exercise and then lunch
00:04:02:18 (we'll just have it together here, at the monastery),
00:04:06:14 and then first class in the afternoon is Biblical.
00:04:11:23 The Biblical class has exactly the same structure
00:04:15:03 that I have already explained for Literature.
00:04:17:05 After the biblical class, then comes 45 minutes of silence
00:04:21:02 and then, the Fine Arts class.
And at 9 p.m.,
00:04:25:16 we finish our first intensive day.
00:04:28:08 On Sunday we start again,
at 10 in the morning, with Theology.
00:04:33:17 After Theology come the Chi-Kung exercises,
the lunch, and then the Musical class,
00:04:39:18 or the class on the musical perspective.
00:04:41:23 And all classes have the same structure, but
00:04:45:09 at the end of the weekend, so after the class
on the musical perspective, we have
00:04:50:22 one hour-long panel that will join some of
the professors (maybe some weekends,
00:04:56:21 all five of them (if not, at least two will
always be there) and all the students,
00:05:04:15 and we can put together our experience of the
weekend, our learning, our questions, our
00:05:11:14 challenges and share in an open discussion.
